at the races in Taif, 2007

4 year old Saudi bred gelding "Ragheed" by Freequent x Etoile with jockey Abdiel Jaen, broke his maiden at 2000 meters (about 1 mile 1/4) in a field of 17 runners, Taif, Saudi Arabia, July 27, 2007.

Ragheed's win is the result of a lot of patience for a talented horse that has had a lot of little problems along the way.

5 year old imported mare "Natalie Jane" (Giant's Causeway) and jockey Ahmed Alshayae won the Tabouk Region Governorate Cup at 2000 meters (about 1 mile 1/4) in a field of 16 runners, Taif, Saudi Arabia, July, 2007. watch the video >>

The racetrack, grandstand, and paddock in Taif were renovated in 2007. The racing surface now has the same composition as the King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh. This photo of the new grandstand was taken on a rainy, overcast day - there's always a few rainy days in Taif during summer but most days are sunny, breezy, and mild in this unique place.
The new grandstand accomodates more spectators and includes new jockey rooms and steward facilities.
The new paddock is also patterned after the one at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh.
